The obverse
The obverse captures one of the most dramatic moments of Ragnarök – the epic battle between Thor and Jörmungandr, the gigantic Midgard Serpent. The mighty god of thunder faces an adversary whose colossal body encircles the world. Thor delivers a fatal blow to Jörmungandr with his legendary hammer, Mjölnir, yet victory comes at a price. In the final moments of its life, the serpent poisons Thor with its deadly venom. Their clash is a symbol of inevitable fate – even the greatest of the gods cannot escape the destiny foretold for him at Ragnarök.
The dynamic composition is enhanced with pyrite and apatite inlays. The coin is further ennobled with a Black Light Colours effect. When illuminated with UV light, the composition reveals an intense, luminous glow, giving the scene an entirely new dimension.
