The 2026 Malta Maltese Pharaoh Hound 5 Euro 1 oz Silver BU coin was minted in a limited mintage of just 1,000 pieces and is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity, presented in an elegant wooden box.
The obverse
The obverse of the coin features a striking depiction of the Pharaoh Hound’s head, carefully capturing the breed’s distinctive features: long upright ears, a slender muzzle, and a short, smooth coat. The background is composed of geometrically arranged sun rays, referring to the ancient Egyptian heritage traditionally associated with the breed’s name. The Maltese cross – one of Malta’s most important symbols – is placed in the central part of the composition.
The reverse
The reverse features the Coat of Arms of Malta surrounded by a sun ray motif and the Maltese cross, creating a harmonious composition that emphasizes the national character of the issue.
